Early History & Ownership (1955-1977)

This remarkable 1955 AC Ace Roadster began its journey with Bob Gibson Jarvis, a doctor and Managing Director of UDT Laystall, who also served as the car's race sponsor. During his ownership, it graced the AC stand at the prestigious Earls Court Motor Show in 1957. The car transitioned through several owners, each adding to its unique story.

Bruce MacIntosh and the Italian Adventure (1966)

In 1966, Bruce MacIntosh, a Chief Race Engineer for the Brabham Alfa Romeo team, took ownership. While in Italy, an engine problem arose. Instead of returning home empty-handed, he was offered a replacement Lancia B20 2.5 V6 engine. With incredible ingenuity, he fitted this new engine—along with a Bristol gearbox and dual exhaust system—over just two weekends!

Restoration & Recommissioning (1977-2021)

John Parker, an AC expert, rebuilt the car in 1977, replacing the Lancia engine with a Bristol engine no. 100B2-4128. Over the subsequent years, several owners cared for the Ace Roadster before Martin Shaw acquired it in 2001. Ian Nuthall racing then performed a rebuild to D2 specification.

Recent Updates and Mille Miglia Participation

The current owner, Clive Robertson, recently completed a recommissioning program after the car had been lightly used for six years. This included rebuilding the differential, fitting a new clutch and water pump, overhauling the suspension, and replacing hoses. YPK 60 has since sprinted at Goodwood and competed in the prestigious Mille Miglia – a testament to its reliability and historical significance.
